Supporting National Hygiene Week 2021

    Wednesday, July 07, 2021

Hygiene has been an even hotter topic of conversation than normal over the past 15-18 months and for good reason. Covid-19 has shone a light on the importance of good hygiene including hand-washing, the use of anti-bacterial products and personal behaviours, to name but a few, to prevent the risk of spreading viruses. Even though these considerations have been emphasised, the majority of people are able to manage. However, that's not the case for everyone.

More than 14 million people in the UK are living in poverty and the growing issue of hygiene poverty is now estimated to affect one in five people. National Hygiene Week is here to raise awareness and 'Look Up' to help tackle hygiene poverty within your community.

Hygienebank.com believe everyone has the right to basic, essential hygiene products which is likely something we can all agree on. Some practical ways to get involved are by monetary donations or challenges. The Hygienebank has also teamed up with Boots and other local outlets to create The Hygiene Bank drop off points where you can donate products such as:

    • Sanitary pads and tampons

    • Shampoo and conditioner

    • Cleansers, creams and body wash

    • Deodorant

    • Toothpaste and toothbrushes

    • Disposable razors and nail files

    • Nappies and baby wipes

    • Washing powder

    • Plasters

    • Hairbrush and hair ties

    • Loo roll and tissues

If you want to help, rummage through your bathroom cabinets at home and see what you can donate. Find your closest donation point

Let's all keep hygiene at the forefront of our minds, particularly as the Covid-19 precautions start to lift and especially for those who are unable to purchase the essential hygiene products we all need.

    Stay safe.
